Reasons to Refinance Your Home – Checklist
Use this checklist as a starting point when thinking through whether refinancing may fit your goals.
Financial Savings / Rate Improvement
- Lower interest rate to reduce monthly mortgage payment
- Shorten loan term (e.g., 30-year to 15-year)
- Switch from an ARM to a fixed rate loan
- Remove PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance)
Cash Flow or Debt Management
- Cash-out refinance for home improvements, tuition, medical expenses, etc.
- Consolidate high-interest debt (credit cards, personal loans)
